The mission of the University of Illinois at Chicago Emergency Medical Services (UIC EMS) is to become an integral member of the medical and academic community at the University. We provide access to Basic Life Support (BLS) health care services through our program. Our service endeavors to provide the best possible emergency health care to sick or injured students, faculty and staff through the experience of our health care professionals. Additionally we provide a work environment which is conducive to the educational growth and development of our professional staff.
UIC EMS started in the Fall of 2011 with about only half as many employees we currently have, twenty five. However, because UIC EMS is still relatively new we are experiencing quick growth as students find out about our organization.

Our previous method was punch cards.
The work scheduler Humanity is our first and only employee scheduling system and will remain so for a long, long time. Scheduling is an ease; no longer is there a hassle to ensure our employees arrive on time but focus can now be kept on the more important aspects of our operation. The work scheduler’s Time Clock feature makes it simple to track the exact time an employee clocks both in and out of work, especially if a specific location is required to clock in and out from. Punch cards have become a thing of the past with this improved, digital method where a secure login is needed before accessing the Time Clock.
The wall, as well, provides a great means of communication with our employees for upcoming events and updates. Any employee is able to post a message here, alerting others of things to come. Lastly, and of course most importantly, requesting and scheduling shifts could not be easier with this work scheduler. With the click of a button, employees are able to request a shift and are able to find out only moments later if it has been approved. The work scheduler is clear, concise and provides multiple formats to view the schedule to best suit an employee’s needs. The scheduling tools are both simple to navigate by our employees and our supervisors, who are quickly able to accept or deny shifts or make changes to the schedule with ease.
I would definitely recommend Humanity to others, be a small business or large. No other scheduling system is as simple, yet all encompassing, in my opinion and compatible with any business model. If, however, a question does arise on how to navigate the program, 24/7 customer support is always available for a live chat. The support team is all experienced and has so far never failed to surprise me in providing quick, detailed answers to my questions.

Among the greatest features of this system are the notification settings. Not only is an email sent out but SMS messages directly to our employees to notify them of any update, from a new work schedule being posted to their shifts being accepted. With the work scheduler, there are no longer any difficulties in employee scheduling but only time spent on what really matters to our and any business.
