Since 2008 the Red Shirt Team is a group of volunteers helping the Cincinnati chapter of Kids Against Hunger. Cincinnati KAH is a part of A Child’s Hope Int’l, a charity started by Larry Bergeron. His story is here: – http://www.achildshopeintl.org/MyStory.html
We started with one employee, and five volunteers and now we have three employees, and almost 200 volunteers. We need to have sign-up be easy and intuitive for a wide range of people with a wide range of computer comfort.

We had used a Google spreadsheet, which was not secure and had no communication components. We tried VolunteerSpot but that wasn’t a professional software product.
The employee schedule maker Humanity is great! We have a single URL that people can access, with security and communication built in. Reporting is fantastic, and the application is bullet-proof. This employee schedule maker is like a utility – always there, always works. Yes, with great enthusiasm we recommend Humanity and their team is responsive, friendly, concerned, supportive and helpful.
There is much consistency and ease of use. Volunteers who are comfortable with computers pick it up right away. Ones who are computer-phobic get it with just a little help, and then are self-sufficient.
We see this employee schedule maker as our permanent solution to volunteer scheduling problems. It makes us smile!
Fantastic! – Steve Aubrey – Red Shirt Team
We are using the message wall lightly, not wanting to send too much email to the volunteers. People are using the email functionality, and also they like putting names with faces for those who have uploaded a photo.
