For many years the mission of the Obion County Public Library has been to enrich the lives of the citizens of Obion County by providing them with a wide range of meaningful library materials and by offering helpful programs designed to meet the needs of specific groups of patrons. We continue our commitment, not only to continue in this mission, but also to make our Library an increasingly significant and relevant part of the lives of our patrons. The new Obion County Public Library Facility was opened on November 16, 2003 and is located at 1221 East Reelfoot Avenue in Union City, Tennessee. The facility has a 30,000 square foot building on approximately 4 acres of land and includes large parking and outdoor reading areas. The library catalog contains over 70,000 books, video and audio materials (110,000 maximum capacity) and is the largest public collection in West Tennessee outside of Jackson and Memphis. There are 26 public access computers available for use.
The facility serves approximately 33,000 people in our county. The library averages over 2,000 patron visits a week. Upon your arrival at the library, sign up for a library card. If you live or work in Obion County than you have free borrowing privileges. This library card is your key to enjoying all the library has to offer. Your library card gives you access to more than 70,000 books and other materials, including audio books, DVDs, music CDs and reference databases. A large collection of newspapers and magazines are also available. The library also offers study rooms for small group sessions, a mid-size conference room, wireless internet service and a large meeting facility for rent to clubs, businesses and community events hosted by local residents. Our staff of professionals stands ready to assist you with research questions. We can help at all levels — students working on school assignments, business people gathering data or home-mechanics finding repair manuals.
We have a total of 21 employees however we are wanting to add our volunteers to this schedule as well so that their hours are recorded by computer and not by hand. Some employees work 38 hours a week while others are 32, 36, 34, 31, 25 and 11. Keeping up with leave requests and then filling in for the vacancy…major headache!!! Some employees take an hour lunch, some 30 minutes and others NO Lunch because they don’t eat. I could go on and on about scheduling for this group of “you better not screw with my schedule or I will kill you”. They are good employees but even a ten minute change throws them for a loop.

Our previous employee scheduling system was all done with paper requests and excel.
Since the work scheduler Humanity the requests for time off have been streamlined directly to me and can not get lost. It reminds them an hour before their shift which doesn’t allow the … .Oh I didn’t know I was suppose to work excuse. YES, I would recommend Humanity to others and we found the team to be very helpful.
