Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps was founded in 1953 with the purpose of providing emergency medical care and transportation to the residents of Lancaster and Depew, NY. In the beginning there were only a handful of members taking less than 100 calls per year. Today we staff 4 ambulances each day at an advanced life support level with a combination of paid and volunteer personnel. LVAC now answers over 4200 medical calls per year.
It is also important to note that LVAC receives NO taxpayer funding. LVAC receives its funding from medical reimbursements and an annual fund drive. As you can imagine LVAC must run a tight budget. As a not for profit organization we are also constantly reinvesting in our local community with events like free blood pressure clinics, standbys for local events and community CPR training.
First off we have 30 employees both part and full time. We also have over 60 volunteers that give their time in all aspects of our operation. This includes Dispatchers, Administrative, EMT’s, Etc.

– Don Campagna AEMT-P, Shift Supervisor – LVAC
In the past our schedule was done on paper or Excel. This was a challenge because there was no oversight or tracking of shifts, swaps or vacations. Employees and volunteers had to come into our base of operations to look at the schedule.
Now our schedule can be accessed online. Thank you for providing us with your work scheduler software. It has greatly improved how we are able to schedule our ambulances for the town of Lancaster, NY. LVAC would definitely recommend Humanity as a scheduling program. It has been easy to set up and use.
