Humanity’s new work scheduler is arriving soon and will take extra time and frustration away from the process of creating staff work schedules. The work scheduler can be found in the ‘schedule’ tab of the application. As part of the new scheduler, we introduced new schedule visualizations to include ‘employee’ and ‘position’ views. Creating shifts has never been more easy and can be done by simply entering the shift length into any field on the scheduler. Also as part of the scheduler, the new shift edit window includes in-line editing of employee, position, and location to save the hassle of having to maneuver to other areas of the application. In addition, in-line totals of ‘hours scheduled’ and ‘number of employees scheduled’ for the date period (day, week, month) are now visible in the ‘employee’ and ‘position’ views. Employee scheduling has never looked this good.

Within the schedule tab at the top of the work scheduler, the ‘publish’ button, ‘action’ icon, and “schedule overview” link can be found along with print options and ‘view’/date range navigation. Under the ‘action’ icon, users will find familiar options like “schedule import” and “clear schedule” alongside newer features such as “copy schedule” and “schedule conflicts.” The “schedule overview” link allows users to choose which locations or positions they prefer to display in the scheduler. It also allows employees to view their own schedule only.

Finding the New Views:

On the upper right corner of the scheduler bar, schedule visualizations are able to be changed based on ‘view type’ and ‘date range’

 

The ‘Position’ View:

Allows managers to quickly grab a glance at an overview of departments and/or positions to make sure that they’ve scheduled the necessary coverage. In the ‘position’ view, shift times are displayed along with the initials of assigned employees.

 

The ‘Employee’ View:

Allows for scheduling to be done by staff member. Schedulers quickly and easily have access to view who is scheduled, when they’re scheduled and for how many hours. In the ‘employee’ view, shift times are displayed along with the assigned position.

Along with making the process of initiating shifts in the scheduler more simple, we’ve also eliminated the need to leave the ‘schedule’ tab to complete tasks such as adding locations, employees, or positions to shifts. This can now all be done within the ‘shift edit’ window which is accessed by clicking on the shift.

The new scheduler adds further flexibility to managers’ employee scheduling work-flows making the software more familiar and lessening the learning curve. Do you find the new views helpful? Is the scheduler missing any key features?
