Humanity is introducing an update for the Vacation feature which gives you the ability to add your own custom leave types.

To access these new options you need to go to Admin >> Account >> Manage Leave Types.

Here you can create a new leave type and add additional attributes to it by checking the boxes next to the following lines:

  1. Do not deduct from vacation days
  2. Limit maximum number of staff that can be booked at once
  3. Leave Type must be booked X days in Advance

When creating a new leave type, you need to enter the name for it in the appropriate field.

Besides creating new custom leave types, you can also write a short description for them.

If you check the box next to the Do not deduct from vacation days option, Humanity will not deduct vacation days for the custom leave type that you are creating.

If you check the box next to the Limit maximum number of staff that can be booked at once option, you will get an additional field where you can enter the staff limit number.

If you check the box next to the Leave Type must be booked X days in Advance option, you will get an additional field where you can enter the number of days.

After you’ve added a new leave type, it will be displayed under the form. You can always get back to it and edit the parameters or delete it if you do not wish to use it.

When you select the Vacation option in the Request section, you can now choose between the default leave type and all the custom ones that you’ve created.

When you select an employee, you can use the Leave Type drop-down menu to select the default Vacation leave type or any of the custom created leave types (in this example we will select our custom leave type that we’ve creatively named “New leave type” for the purpose of this guide).

The next step of the process is to set the time frame for the leave by selecting the appropriate dates in the calendar.

After you set the time frame, you can add a short description in the comment section and press the Submit Requestbutton to finish the process.

After submitting the request, you will be able to view it in the Vacation sidebar on the right side of the page. Here schedulers and/or managers can reject, approve or check the leave request.
