17 years ago, the Los Angeles Dream Center was started to help the local L.A. community. The Dream Center, a volunteer driven organization that finds and fills the needs of individuals and families alike, was founded in 1994 and currently serves over 40,000 people each month. Services and programs offered include residential rehabilitation programs for teens and adults, a shelter for victims of human trafficking, a transitional shelter for homeless families, mobile hunger relief and medical programs, and a foster care intervention outreach program.
The Dream Center Discipleship program was formed approximately nine years ago by Mike Conner. From a handful of disciples, there are now over 200 disciples and three homes. The Dream Center Discipleship program is to help individuals with life-controlling issues. It is more than just getting off drugs and/or alcohol; it is about looking at lives and starting afresh. Staff work with disciples in their homes, through work therapy and by teaching classes. They are a faith-based program, but really desire to help individuals become part of society and their families in a healthy way that meets their physical and spiritual needs.
When creating staff schedules, they have to balance employees with different class schedules, work schedules and projects, between three different homes. Previously, all staff scheduling was done by hand, which was time consuming and confusing.
Since switching to Humanity, they have been able to keep clear records and create conflict-free schedules. Our well integrated and robust work scheduler identifies when there are shift conflicts and challenges for their numerous areas of responsibility. The Dream Center also plans to maximize the flexibility of our application and use our work scheduler for specific work projects in their work therapy program.
