MERCURY

Mercury is related to our ability to communicate and desire for knowledge. It is connected with contacts to siblings, friends and people at school. Mercury represents our thoughts and the constant activity that goes on in our heads. It is connected to the nervous system and physical co-ordination.

Mercury-Aries

Your mind works fast, but you have a tendency to express yourself in a hurried manner. This can stress other people a little so remember to give them time to follow your train of thought. You can miss important messages because you tend to jump to conclusions or finish other people's sentences for them. Nevertheless you can be very witty and fun to be with. Perhaps you were rather cheeky as a child - and you probably still express yourself impulsively. You are often quite sharp, and prefer to serve the truth in an unvarnished fashion. You may however feel that you have a monopoly on the truth, and you often show considerable irritation when criticized or corrected. When you learn to give other people a hearing, and to prepare your ideas better, you can become a leader in your field.

1ST HOUSE INFLUENCE You may have rather an "impish" personality, and you will enliven the atmosphere in all social situations. Articulate and informative, you like to inform others about what is going on around you. Some people might consider you rather loose-tongued, but for you, knowledge and talk make the world go round. You are both fascinating and knowledgeable, and very changeable in nature. Always on the move, you seem to be in two places at any one time. Because of your effervescent curiosity you are constantly distracted by events around you. Other people may get the impression that you are superficial, but for you it is important to have a finger in many pies.

Mercury-Taurus

In communication matters, you tend to exude calm and good sense, but you may lack tolerance for other people's point of view - especially if it is provocative. Other things being equal you will communicate rather slowly and sonorously, and with deep conviction. Indeed there may be a certain beauty in your tone of voice, and a fine self-expression. You like to have time to formulate your ideas and hate being interrupted. You have the patience to give other people your full attention, when they tell you what is on their mind.
Security is a major concern for you, and you may have considerable skill in budgeting and ensuring that you and those close to you are well provided for. You do not feel comfortable with extravagance, but will often show a fine judgment in your purchases.

2ND HOUSE INFLUENCE You have strong convictions, which are often based on the solid truths of the market. You are rarely motivated to show interest in insights which cannot be converted to practical advantage. However major economic changes in your life can lead to reinvestment of your values in the resources of the mind, psychological interests etc. Financial complications can arise in connection with brothers, sisters and neighbors, and early experiences in these areas will already have proved formative as regards your values in life today. You tend to worry a lot about the material aspects of life, and are constantly coming up with new ideas about how to manage your economy.

Mercury-Gemini

You are young in heart and mind and manifest a constant curiosity regarding people and the changes that go on around you. You hop from subject to subject when talking, and your voice tone is probably musical and light, and quite fast. You are restless and like to get involved in several things at the same time. Being as flexible as you are, truth can be seen as relative to the task at hand. In other words you do not like to commit yourself to a particular idea or truth for any length of time, but instead you find pleasure in exploring the whole spectrum of human interests and beliefs. It is more the dance of the mind that appeals to you - practical conclusions and applications may just be boring. Travel, meeting people and exchanging gossip about life are appealing pursuits for you.

3RD HOUSE INFLUENCE A stimulating childhood environment, with important influences from brothers and sisters, will have spurred you to develop your mind as a child. You are extremely information-hungry and probably take pleasure in all forms of intellectual pursuit, reading, film and perhaps especially news and the media. You have the capacity to master a number of mental skills, and will always be actively learning something somewhere. Education is extremely important to you, and many decisive experiences in your life result from developments in this area. You may feel a constant need to improve yourself in this area. Changes in the life-circumstances of siblings can also have a profound effect on your ideas. You are also a great traveler, and have probably taken many an intrepid journey in your life. You may prefer two-wheeled travel to four.

Mercury-Cancer

You are a deeply impressionable person, and you tend to express your knowledge and opinions only after checking things out with your inner feelings. This emotionality will be discernible in your voice, which will probably be quite charged and variable in tone. You are sensitive and intuitive, and this can express itself in an instinctive talent for grasping the thoughts and feelings of other people. In partnership you are inclined to be rather quiet and very receptive. It is rather difficult for people to really know what is on your mind. When you do communicate, it is with those you really trust, and you do so with feeling. You function better on an intimate level, than on a superficial social level.

4TH HOUSE INFLUENCE Communication was a very important factor in your upbringing, either because of stimulating relationships to siblings, or because of interesting discussions between your parents. This has given you a need to be mentally stimulated, so you will wish to have strong mental bonds with your partner. You need a lot of activity in your home, and children can be an important factor here. You are good at creating contact to children, and will be powerfully motivated to give your family a good education. Perhaps you will have a lot of books at home. You like to be on the move, may have two homes, or move often.

Mercury-Leo

You are a noble-minded person with a sense of chivalry, and a talent for entertaining. This will probably be reflected in an optimistic tone of voice which conveys the idea that you really know what you are talking about. For you, first impressions count. You take yourself seriously when it comes to evaluating your mental abilities, cultural interests and intellectual talents. In this respect you are extremely sensitive to the judgment of others, and the worst thing you know is giving the impression that you are ignorant. As such you have a weakness for pretending you know something when you don't, and refusing to admit it when you are wrong. When you replace bluster with humor, you win the hearts of those around you.

5TH HOUSE INFLUENCE You have a rather impish nature and good sense of fun and can excel as a storyteller. Humor and wit, and a natural ability to communicate with charm means that you have a tendency to involve yourself in reasonably harmless romantic contacts. You are less motivated by erotic needs in romance than the need to be on the same mental wavelength. Your partner will appreciate your playful nature, and children will feel that you meet them on their own mental level. One weakness is that you tend to be flirtatious. Really your need to have an audience is best satisfied by creative work.

Mercury-Virgo

You are something of a perfectionist and have a helpful - if somewhat critical - manner. You have an eye for details and it pains you to see something out of place or done inefficiently. As such you tend to involve yourself in many daily tasks, smoothing out the rough edges and getting things to function. You can exhaust yourself with having too much to do. You are businesslike in the way you express yourself, and you may have a rather chiding tone of voice. At best you are very supportive and a great helper, at worst you tend to undermine others with negative comments. Generally however, you prefer to keep a low profile, both as regards your opinions, and your many good deeds.

6TH HOUSE INFLUENCE You are a busy person and like to use your energy on a variety of household tasks. You may be an expert in a number of fields - cookery, gardening, home-improvements etc. - and generally speaking you are good at keeping the home functioning smoothly. Your partner will appreciate your ability to get things done; however you may be a little too busy, a little too critical or a little too organized. You have many talents - and these may include an interest in the functions of the body and the importance of nutrition. You will become an expert in several different fields.

Mercury-Libra

You are probably a soft-spoken person, eschewing coarse forms of expression. Even if you disagree with someone, you do so with good manners. You express yourself with grace and style, and during the course of your life you propagate a balanced view based on a strong cultural foundation. You may well have a love of the arts and literature. You probably enjoy friendly debate, and although you often enjoy the intellectual exercise of taking the opposite point of view, you deepest motivation is to create agreement. You rarely raise your voice, and for some people your even manner can be exasperating - you are just too reasonable. Your fair-mindedness and diplomatic style wins friends.

7TH HOUSE INFLUENCE The single most important element in a partnership for you is communication. Erotic attraction and material comforts may have their appeal, but above all you need to feel mentally stimulated. The pleasures of love come through sharing ideas and thoughts; the pains when you feel ignored or misunderstood. You tend to choose partners who you respect for their intelligence and, other things being equal, you are attracted by a youthful quality in the partner. You like to go places and have fun. This removes the burden of communication from the partner.

Mercury-Scorpio

You are a deep-thinking and silent type. Superficiality is anathema to you; when you say something, it normally strikes deep and is delivered with considerable intensity. Experiences early in life may have made you somewhat suspicious, inclining you to look for secret motives in others. This can be unnerving for those close to you. You often feel that communication can be achieved through eye-contact alone, and that the great truths are unspoken. Remember that people also use words to make contact, and that everything doesn't have to be deeply meaningful. Scientific studies show that 55% of all communication is through body language - a fact that you have been instinctively aware of most of your life, having observed the way people react under your gaze.

8TH HOUSE INFLUENCE Communication is an area in which you have great talents but experience acute problems. There may have been an atmosphere of secrecy in your childhood, or one of your parents may have cultivated long periods of silence, or spoken in a very dominating, intense manner. Whatever the cause these experiences will have given rise to an anxiety in you about being understood, about silence or argument. This anxiety can manifest itself in long discussions with the partner for example, or mutual suspicions in the partnership because of unspoken issues. Sometimes you feel that your partner is hiding something from you. You have a tendency to cross-examine your partner. These habits - which are a direct result of childhood taboos - actually create a breeding ground for secrecy and silence. Mercury-Sagittarius

You have an extremely active mentality, and you restlessly seek new mental horizons to explore. You probably take pride in your studies - which you pursue for the sake of knowledge alone - and you tend to have an opinion on anything. In philosophical discussion you are less than diplomatic, and may tend to drown the opposition in the heat of the argument. 9TH HOUSE INFLUENCE You are driven by an insatiable curiosity and desire for understanding. Perhaps you were strongly influenced by siblings or a teacher early in life to do something with your intelligence; now you are the eternal student, seduced by knowledge and the power of education. You speak intelligently on many different subjects and generally have an opinion about everything. Discussions with you can be somewhat frustrating, because you have a tendency to change viewpoint constantly. In your view this is OK: you know in your heart that truth is a relative matter, only the search for enlightenment and knowledge is constant. Get your ideas down on paper.

Mercury-Capricorn

You are a serious-minded person, careful in self-expression and authoritative in making your opinions known. You have strong views, expressed slowly and thoughtfully. A believer in logic and reason, you like to see proof, before you can accept anything controversial. Other people may feel that you put a damper on their ideas. 10TH HOUSE INFLUENCE You are a busy person, and your ceaseless search for the good professional opportunity distracts you rather from personal and emotional issues. Sensing your destiny is to communicate, you have a tendency to feel that relationships make you deviate from your path - unless you have a partner who can share your interests in your career. Professional worries and a chronic tendency to plan ahead mean that you set too little time aside for domestic pleasures. A partner who was active in the home would be the ideal counterpoint for you because when you come home from work you need an atmosphere which encourages relaxation.

Mercury-Aquarius

Mental stimulation is very important for you, and you thrive on contact with others and the exchange of exciting ideas. You pride yourself on your openness and tolerance, although when it comes down to it you can't tolerate intolerant people. You are probably strongly motivated by social issues and tend to have unshakeable convictions in this respect. You can actually be rather stubborn in your beliefs, though you will be loath to admit this. You can get a kick out of being provocative, and will often be so if you start getting bored. Other things being equal you will have a number of important friendships with people from very different environments, as you have a taste for exotic and foreign influences.

11TH HOUSE INFLUENCE Your friendships are extremely important to you and some of your most mentally formative experiences have come from inspiring talks with people who you respect for their intelligence. Belonging to a set of friends or special social group with untraditional interests is the best way for you to express your ideas. You need a wide audience for your ideas, and you can function well in groups who need to hear what you have to say. You also derive great benefit from going on courses which are experiential and group-oriented. Mental contact with others is as important to you as the air you breathe, and in intimate relationships you will still insist on being able to go out and about with your friends.

Mercury-Pisces

You are a visionary type, probably quite soft-spoken, and moved to communicate by your dreams and inner feelings. You have considerable fantasy, and if the real world becomes too boring (- it often does), you may daydream. Often you will feel misunderstood, but it is up to you to make the effort to clarify your ideas. Actually you hate to be pinned down, and you may be reluctant to express your dreams and ideas for fear that they will lose their allure in the cold light of day. Experience shows that when you try to initiate others into your dreams, they become skeptical. You prefer to keep your illusions. By combining your imaginative power with a practical talent, you will be able to make your dreams real.

12TH HOUSE INFLUENCE The private world of your mind and your thoughts is very important for you. Perhaps as a child you were forced to retreat into your own fairytale world - at least now you can be quite happy with your own company. You are the type who keeps a private diary in which you commune with yourself. In partnership matters it is important that your loved one allows you to withdraw from time to time - but at the same time there will be a lot of misunderstandings - not to mention a growing isolation - if you do not take the trouble to reveal a little of what goes on in your mind.
