NORTH NODE

The North Node of the Moon represents the point at which the orbit of the Moon crosses the plane of the Solar System (Ecliptic) when moving from south to north across the Ecliptic. This is an invisible point which is first noticed at specific times of the year when eclipses occur. The North Node indicates the most beneficial direction for spiritual growth. It also shows in what particular area of society one needs to interact to encourage this growth.

Node-Aries

Deep and unconscious drives, which have their roots far back into the past, create situations in which you - when young - almost stand on your head to take other people's views and needs into consideration. You are motivated by the need to be liked and appreciated, but a time will come when you will experience a major reorientation in this respect. By going for what you really want - by allowing yourself to take the initiative and go for what is right for you - you will find your true self. It is important for you to risk doing what you really want, even if you feel it alienates others. Things simply do not work for you when you unctuously try to win approval, whereas when you strike out on your own you win the respect and appreciation of others.

1ST HOUSE INFLUENCE You have a tendency to involve yourself at an early age in a fairly long-term intimate relationship. Whilst this at first offers you considerable security, later on the loss of personal freedom tends to grate. You will find that the more you give, the more you are taken advantage of. A turning point comes - particularly at the age of 37 - when you find you no longer can accept living on another person's terms. Happiness comes when you direct your attention to fulfilling truly personal needs, even at the risk of being thought selfish. By concentrating on self-development you achieve an inner balance which makes relationships more successful, and you break with inherited and old-fashioned attitudes about partnership.

Node-Taurus

The first part of your life is governed by deep-seated passions which often bring you into emotional turmoil. You may have great difficulties controlling irrational feelings of jealousy, which are based on deep anxieties about self-worth. Sexual drives exert a strong hold on you, yet satisfaction is elusive. The more you indulge your desires, the emptier you feel. You cast about amongst the left-overs of others searching for a set of personal values that you can embrace. Your greatest longing is for a safe haven of security, where you can experience emotional and economic security, and in time this will come. In your search for peace you constantly build up and then abandon life-structures designed to quench the flames of your needs. Peace come from a surprising quarter, when you embrace values which conserve instead of destroy. Perhaps it is a question of tuning in to the richness of your senses, so that you can fully appreciate what you have, rather than mourning what you have lost.

2ND HOUSE INFLUENCE A turning point comes at some point in your life - particularly around the age of 37 - in which you learn to trust in your abilities to build a secure foundation for your physical existence. As you mature you learn to accept and enjoy the material benefits which come your way, and this in turns provides a secure environment for developing calmness and self-esteem. Early in life you may be afflicted by jealousy and anxiety as regards stability in your relationships. You exhaust yourself trying to control your partner emotionally. Later, however, desperate need gives way to a contented satisfaction. A number of erotic issues and relationship obsessions give way at this point to a less desperate and more peaceful concept concerning intimate relationships.

Node-Gemini

Issues of intelligence and learning play a central role in your personal development, and during the course of your life there will be a shift in emphasis from intellectual elitism to a more appealing common touch. Efforts to acquire a halo of wisdom will often be expensive failures. True satisfaction is attained through meeting people on their own level and by embracing a humble attitude to listening and learning. Humour at the expense of others, a loud nature, or a general attitude of intellectual superiority make way later in your life to a genuine appreciation of ordinary contact with others. Satisfaction comes from working on shared communication projects. Early in life there is a great longing for the open frontier and distant horizons, and an exaggerated need for freedom. Later in life, surprisingly, you find great satisfaction in the simple pleasures of your local environment.

3RD HOUSE INFLUENCE The dichotomy between overall ideologies and everyday application of ideas is very apparent in your life. You discover that intellectual development is no end in itself, and that knowledge is really useful when it is shared and applied. Early in life your personal freedom will be highly prized. There will be considerable travel and deep philosophical flirtations. Later in life, there will be a greater tendency to form bonds and get involved in relationships. By getting to know people, and by relating to the facts of everyday life, you find a new sense of meaningfulness.

Node-Cancer

The early part of your life is characterised by a rather hard attitude to getting on in the world. You are probably profoundly influenced by parental views regarding work, ambition and success, and feel that you have to live up to their demands in these areas. As you mature you become aware of a need for greater contact with the world of feeling and emotional enrichment. There is a reorientation from the masculine to the feminine, and this may be expressed by a new attitude to family, children and the home. Priorities can change so that there is less emphasis on your goals and a realisation that your energy is best invested in the family and your immediate environment. This process can be heralded by a deepening of your intuitive awareness, which replaces a previous sceptical or materialistic spirit.

4TH HOUSE INFLUENCE You are profoundly influenced by parental expectations, but major development comes in your life when you assert your own true ambitions. As your life develops you discover that true satisfaction is connected with enriching your emotional life through creating a family of your own. Though torn between professional ambitions and early desires for recognition and respect, you learn the value of deep family bonds and rewarding emotional commitments. It is important to see the demands of family not as a hindrance to your personal progress, but rather as an opportunity for personal growth and happiness. Your home can become a haven for you - a solid base for going out into the world.

Node-Leo

One of the major dilemmas in your life is the dichotomy between realising yourself, or losing your identity in the group. In your early years you will have strong bonds to friends, or some particular group which may be on the fringe of society in some way. Your friendships will mean a lot to you, yet these involvements seem to drain your energy and prevent you making your own personal statement to the world. Experience will show that you have cannot afford to cushion yourself from the world through restless social activity, and that in the long run you cannot rely on your friends. You have to put your creativity on the line and allow the spotlight to fall on you. Children may play an important role in this transformation process.

5TH HOUSE INFLUENCE Social commitments tend to absorb too much of your energy. You are naturally loyal in friendships, but have you ever stopped to ask what you get in return? Often your interests take second place. Happiness and satisfaction come when you cut down on energy-draining social engagements, and concentrate on personal fulfilment. This may mean developing creative talents, perhaps it just means letting yourself experience romantic or erotic joys, rather than being entertained by the crowd. Your partner will certainly appreciate a change of priorities here. Having children can be a special fate for you - children help you find and express yourself more than anything else.

Node-Virgo

You are born with considerable spiritual ballast and a strong sense of your place in the cosmos, though you may feel alone in the world. You have to struggle with a sense of isolation in your early years, and there may be an indefinable sense that circumstances are quite fluid around you; things can dissolve and nothing can be relied on. A strong desire to create order on all levels is born in you. This can mean greater attention to diet and the needs of your body, and considerable effort to established a disciplined daily life. There is a shadow of sorrow that can pervade your mood, and it is essential that you reject feelings of martyrdom and passivity. There will undoubtedly have been major events in your early life which can give good cause for unhappiness, but work is often the best solution, as well as an attitude of acceptance for that which cannot be changed.

6TH HOUSE INFLUENCE You are a spiritually motivated person - even to the extent of spending the early part of your life withdrawn from the world, cultivating meditative or private creative interests. You can have a deep sense of belonging to the universe but as far as integration on a worldly level is concerned, you have a reluctance to go out and integrate yourself with others. Later this enforced loneliness becomes oppressive and you desire integration in a normal daily working rhythm. Isolation is not healthy for you in the long run, and true development in your life only comes when you apply your talents for the benefit of others. It is important for you to overcome a sense of being a victim in the world. Feelings of martyrdom undermine your ability to achieve practical results in your life. Old sorrows surround you like ghosts, but this cloak of suffering needs to be cast off. Work is healing for you.

Node-Libra

A major dilemma in your life is in finding a balance between listening to and acting upon your own personal needs as opposed to taking into consideration and compromising with the needs of others. You are inclined when young to exclusively follow your own inner voice, reasoning that you must take care of yourself first. You insist on your independence, and see compromise as weakness. However this independence can bring loneliness or emptiness, and a deep longing arises to share your life's experiences. A transition comes in which the emphasis shifts towards awareness of the needs of others, and in partnership matters you will desire to make a stronger commitment. By embracing the challenge represented by dealing with another on an intimate level, and by exchanging hollow independence for an enriching partnership, you attain a new harmony in your life.

7TH HOUSE INFLUENCE Self-sufficiency is not a problem for you, but you have a lot to learn in intimate relationships concerning the value of compromise and seeing things from another's point of view. You find as you get older that you derive less and less satisfaction from fulfilling purely personal interests, and this leads to a radical shift of personal values. The greatest personal development arises in your intimate relationships, as you strive to replace egocentric interests with the spirit of partnership. There can be a major turning point here around the age of 37. The greater the depth in your personal relationships, the deeper the level of satisfaction you feel.

Node-Scorpio

Your early years are very security-orientated, and you are strongly motivated to enjoy the many sensory pleasure that the world has to offer. You are determined to give yourself all the material rewards that you see other people enjoy. As you mature these kind of pleasures seem emptier - the more you get, the emptier you feel. Thus you are driven to investigate the whole nature of human desire, and find some satisfaction that goes beyond the senses. Your journey will involve deep erotic experiences, psychological trauma and loss of all those attachments that pull you down and prevent your growth. This decisive transformation comes when you reach the stage at which you are prepared to take a step into the unknown, knowing that there are no guarantees of security, and no economic safety net. This path leads to a new life of inner riches.

8TH HOUSE INFLUENCE Your early life is profoundly influenced by material and family bonds. Indeed you can be weighed down by a lifetime of acquisitions, and you can feel that material commitments prevent you from fulfilling your deepest desires. A turning point comes at some point - at the age of 37 at the latest - when you experience a transformation of personal values. There can be a considerable material upheaval at this point in your life in which you renounce possessiveness - both in intimate relationships and material bonds - and embrace a completely different set of values based on deeper issues of the soul. You may discover some psychological talents at this time, and you will be moved to learn more about the hidden side of life. You will be strongly motivated to improve your experience of sexuality, and to get to know your partner on a much deeper level, when this transformation takes place.

Node-Sagittarius

Major issues in your life centre around knowledge, communication and understanding. Early on you are very strongly influenced by the ideas of others, and you spend a lot of time passing on knowledge which comes from intellectual authorities. In general you are drawn in to a world of gossip which seems to dissipate your mental energy. You meet too many people, are always on your way from one place to another, and generally have difficulty formulating precisely what you stand for. As you get older there is a greater need to allow your own ideas to germinate. Mentor figures - especially from foreign countries - can play an important role in inspiring your new-found intellectual independence. By withdrawing from the enervating energy of the crowd, and by developing latent talents of reflection, you can enrich your life with a meaningful philosophy. It is important for you to expand your spiritual horizons as a counterbalance to the distractions of the world.

9TH HOUSE INFLUENCE A turning point comes at some point of your life - particularly around the age of 37. You feel a strong need to define your own ideas and opinions, instead of regurgitating the ideas of other people. You also need to seek the mountain air, getting away from the demands of family and friends. The triviality of your everyday life begins to pall, your words seem empty or borrowed, and the things you have learned seem bereft of deeper meaning. This dissatisfaction may lead you to a life of serious study, in which you strive to gain an overall perspective which makes sense of people's busy lives. This may be coupled to a strong philosophical or religious experience.

Node-Capricorn

You are strongly attached to the bonds of the past, and your family can play an extremely important role in maintaining feelings of dependence in you. At some point in your life these bonds have to be cut, so that you have the opportunity to take responsibility for you own life. When young you are tempted to manipulate partners by appealing to their protective nature, and this results in your being held in a childish role. In reality there is a grown-up in you bursting to get out, and the sooner you manifest your maturity in this respect, the more satisfaction you will feel. Children and family represent something of a dilemma for you, perhaps because you instinctively sense the great responsibilities that parenthood will bring. Raising a family is easier when you make the transition from dependence to self-sufficiency. You are an emotional person, yet as you get older you learn that there is greater dignity in self-control.

10TH HOUSE INFLUENCE Parental and family values have a powerful influence on you, and you may feel a strong desire to centre you life around home, family and children at an early age. However these areas can never satisfy you fully. You can only develop when you tear yourself away from the constant distractions of family life and define new goals for yourself. You do your family a favour when you go out into the world and realise yourself. You will often feel split, and you will always be conscious of family needs, but this should not deter you in your search for fulfilment. Family issues will exert a constant pull on you, but being the traditional homebody is not your destiny. It is your influence on the larger world stage that has greatest significance in your life.

Node-Aquarius

During the course of your life you have to struggle with an inner identity dilemma which brings a transition from egocentric behaviour to a more dispassionate commitment to the group. When young you wish to taste life to the fullest. The world can seem like an entertainment supermarket where you can indulge your pleasures. You expend a great deal of energy on love affairs, conspicuous consumption, luxury pursuits and the like, and you may build up quite an image for yourself. As you mature however, vanity is seen to be nothing but vexation of the spirit, pleasures seem hollow, the flame of your identity burns down. You are destined to go through a rather dramatic process of self-realisation which evokes a more humble attitude in you. A need arises to involve yourself with others and offer your services to enhance the energy of the group. Humanitarian interests replace self-indulgence, and you find fulfilment and meaning when you embrace a shared goal with others.

11TH HOUSE INFLUENCE You have a strong need to be respected as an individual, yet you will discover that this need is exaggerated and cannot be fulfilled. Should you for example choose to find self-confirmation through love-affairs, you will end up in a very complex situation, and your self-respect will take a dive. Romance is often an abyss which undermines your ego even further. Children can result from romantic ventures and be a burden on your progress in life. Having children will not satisfy your need for personal significance. It is essential for you to realise as soon as possible that personal happiness comes when you devote yourself to enhancing your consciousness through social involvement. Group interests bring great satisfaction, and other people will benefit greatly from your creative efforts in social fields.

Node-Pisces

During the course of your life there will be a transition in your values as regards the meaning of your existence. An early tendency to structure your life through work, planning and order has the effect of making everyday life mechanical and meaningless. Your work - which tends to dominate your waking hours - brings less and less satisfaction, and an existential crisis or spiritual experience will lead to a revaluation of how you can best use your time. There will be a reorientation from a planned existence to one in which you are more open and flexible. Spiritual, artistic or creative interests are given priority, and this gives you a new sense of meaning. This transition process may involve a sacrifice of some sort, and this sacrifice brings a refinement of the soul.

12TH HOUSE INFLUENCE In the early years of your life you are a busy person, with an inner conviction of the importance of being helpful and conscientious. Yet as you mature you feel a growing sense of inner dissatisfaction, as if something important is missing from your life which you cannot put your finger on. Actually you need to tune in to your inner life to become a whole person. The importance of work, both professionally and in the home, needs to be downgraded. You have to look after your spiritual life because this is where true growth comes for you. You need to have a place to withdraw to, so that you can commune with your inner feelings and creativity. The beauty of nature and the cosmos can be important to you, and you would have great benefit from meditation or other forms of spiritual interests.
